Terri Venessi [Mary Kate Schellhardt] is a standout student known as the “deli girl” in a close-knit, working-class town, and she often finds herself at odds with Karen Ridgeway [Hillary Tuck], the school’s confident cheer captain. A prank war between the girls spirals out of control when a revenge-fueled stink bomb in Karen’s locker forces the entire school to evacuate for two tense days. In the principal’s office, Officer Patricia Smith lays out a surprising remedy: the girls—and along with them, their mothers—should switch lives for a while so each can walk in the other’s shoes and see the consequences of their habits. Under the shadow of possible expulsion, both families agree to participate, recognizing that their long-festering tensions might finally ease through this unusual experiment.

Karen Ridgeway [Hillary Tuck] comes from a more affluent home where her parents are often away, which leaves room for responsibility to land on her teenage shoulders.
