Lisbeth Salander is airlifted to a hospital in Gothenburg after sustaining severe gunshot wounds. These injuries were inflicted by her father, Alexander Zalachenko, a notorious crime lord, leaving her in a fragile state as she struggles to recover.

Journalist Mikael Blomkvist is determined to exonerate Lisbeth Salander, who faces multiple murder charges. He uncovers the covert operations of the 'Section' within the Swedish Security Service, which framed her as part of a larger conspiracy.

Section operatives Evert Gullberg and Fredrik Clinton plot to eliminate both Zalachenko and Salander to protect their dark secrets. Tension escalates as Gullberg takes action at the hospital to silence them once and for all.

Gullberg arrives at the hospital and kills Zalachenko, believing this will secure their secrets. However, he fails to locate Salander and ultimately takes his own life, leaving the conspiracy unraveling.

Clinton's next move is to have Salander forcibly committed to a mental institution where she suffered greatly as a child. He enlists Dr. Peter Teleborian, the head of the institution, who had previously subjected her to traumatic treatments.

Blomkvist manages to convince Salander's doctor to help her through a secretive act by sneaking in an Internet phone. This enables Salander to contact her hacker ally, Plague, and strategize her next steps.

Law enforcement conducts operations to arrest key members of the Section, confirming the evidence against Salander was fabricated. Plague hacks into Teleborian's computer, revealing disturbing incriminating materials that lead to Teleborian's arrest.

In a gripping climax, Salander discovers Ronald Niedermann, Zalachenko's son, hiding out at her father's property. A harrowing confrontation ensues, where she uses a nail gun to incapacitate him, fiercely taking back control of her narrative.

After incapacitating Niedermann, Salander alerts the police and contacts Sonny for support. The police arrive, leading to Niedermann's arrest, but he ultimately meets his fate at the hands of a motorcycle gang seeking vengeance.
