The Ghost of Frankenstein

The villagers, convinced they are cursed, blame the monster for their troubles and demand the destruction of Frankenstein's castle. The Mayor grants permission to raze the fortress, setting the village on edge and fueling fear of the unknown.

Explosions free the monster from his sulfuric tomb, though the exposure leaves him weakened yet preserved. Ygor witnesses the escape and resolves to help his friend regain strength.

The monster and Ygor flee the castle, but a bolt of lightning strikes the fleeing figure. The shock compounds the monster's peril and foreshadows the trials ahead.

Ygor travels to Visaria to seek Ludwig Frankenstein, a doctor who might revive the monster's strength and brain. He arrives with the monster, hoping for a cure.

The monster reaches Visaria and befriends Cloestine Hussman, even lifting her ball to the roof. When two villagers intervene, the creature kills them before returning Cloestine and being captured by the town's police.

At the courthouse, the prosecutor asks Ludwig to examine the captured giant. Before the examination can begin, Ygor reveals the giant's true identity and uses the knowledge to blackmail Ludwig into healing him.

The hearing reveals the alleged murders while the monster is chained. Ludwig denies recognizing the giant, and the creature breaks free, led away by Ygor.

Elsa, Ludwig's daughter, discovers the Frankenstein journals and learns the monster's history. She glimpses Ygor and the monster in a window, foreshadowing the danger to come.

Elsa sneaks into Ludwig's laboratory, where the monster murders Dr. Kettering and grabs Elsa. Ludwig subdues the monster with knockout gas, leaving him unconscious for the moment.

While studying the family legacy, Ludwig is visited by the ghost of Henry Frankenstein, who urges him to give the monster a good brain. The vision reinforces Ludwig's resolve to pursue radical surgery.

Ludwig explains plans to transplant a brain into the monster, and Ygor pushes for his own brain to be used. Bohmer cautions against murder, warning of the moral and legal danger.

The monster abducts Cloestine to bring her brain to the chateau, hoping to seize her mind. Cloestine fears for her fate, and the creature reluctantly hands her over to Elsa for protection.

Ludwig proceeds with the planned transplant, not realizing that Bohmer has removed Ygor's brain instead of Kettering's. The mistake unsettles Ludwig and undermines the surgeon's trust in his assistants.

Herr Hussman and the townspeople swarm the chateau. The Ygor-monster reveals to Erik that he is Ygor, not Kettering, and Bohmer begins filling the house with gas to kill the intruders.

Ludwig is mortally wounded by the Ygor-monster, and the monster suffers blindness from a blood-type mismatch. Bohmer is electrocuted when thrown onto the apparatus, and the chateau catches fire as Erik and Elsa escape at sunrise.
