Amanda needs $65 to buy proper clothes for a governess interview with wealthy Mormon Josiah Widdicombe. When she discovers Charlie has a satchel full of stolen money from double-crossing the Bloodworth gang, she sees an opportunity to fund her escape from dance hall life. She drugs him, takes the money, and uses it to buy an aristocratic outfit that helps her pose as the Duchess of Swansbury.
After being captured and tied to stakes by the gang, Amanda uses a pair of lorgnette spectacles to focus sunlight and burn through the ropes binding her. This clever escape allows both her and Charlie to free themselves and continue their journey toward Salt Lake City.
Charlie hatches a plan to retrieve the money the Bloodworth gang had reclaimed after capturing them. He sets booby traps around the ranch and starts a fire in the barn to create chaos, distracting the gang members so he and Amanda can slip in and recover the stolen loot during the confusion.
