The Damned

Eva, a young widow, takes over a remote Arctic winter fishing outpost established after her husband Magnus died in a shipwreck. The outpost is located in an isolated bay, surrounded by a snowbound mountain terrain. She prepares to manage her crew and face the harsh winter conditions alone.

As the winter progresses, the crew faces a severe shortage of resources with their catch diminishing. They resort to eating bait to survive, highlighting the dire situation and the difficulty of sustaining themselves in the isolated environment. Tensions start to mount among the crew.

One morning, Eva and her crew witness a shipwreck occurring at the jagged rocks called the Teeth. Although they see survivors clinging to the rocks, Eva reluctantly decides not to help due to lack of resources and fears for their own safety.

A barrel of salt pork from the wreck washes ashore, prompting the crew to venture out at night in search of more supplies. During their search, they recover lamp oil and brandy from a crate, and encounter desperate survivors attempting to board their boat, leading to a chaotic struggle where Daníel kills one of the survivors.

During the chaos, Ragnar is pulled into the icy sea and the crew, overwhelmed and fearful, is forced to abandon him and escape. Despite their efforts, they return with very little supplies, heightening the despair among the remaining crew members.

Following the shipwreck, bodies wash ashore, with one containing live eels in its stomach. Helga, the cook, expresses fears of Nordic folklore about draugr, revenant beings of hatred, as strange occurrences begin to unsettle the crew. Eva starts experiencing vivid dreams and visions of a dark figure.

Helga warns the crew about the dangers of draugr and suggests they must burn the bodies to prevent them from rising. The crew is increasingly paranoid as superstitions grow amid the eerie atmosphere and their deteriorating mental state.

After a successful fishing day, the crew encounters a sudden loss of their fish stores overnight, and Helga mysteriously goes missing. They find her trail leading to the burial site, where they discover an empty coffin, intensifying paranoia and fear.

Tensions explode into violence as delusions take hold. Hákon attempts to strangle Daníel, but is killed by Aron. Later, Daníel attacks Jónas before taking his own life. The crew's mental stability collapses amidst the chaos and spatial isolation.

Eva sets out to confront the menacing draugr, which ambushes her at the cabin. She shoots and wounds it, then burns the cabin to destroy the creature. Believing the threat is over, she prepares to leave the desolate bay.

Eva encounters a desperate shipwreck survivor speaking in Basque, who offers her a gold pocket watch in exchange for her boat. Unable to understand him, Eva shoots him and sets him on fire, revealing her harsh choices in the dire situation.
