In Corsica, Count and Countess Franchi welcome twin boys. Dr. Enrico Paoli informs the Count that his wife has given birth to Siamese twins. The Count insists on separating them, despite Paoli's warning that the babies' survival would be miraculous.

Colonna attack and guardians save the twins

Before separation can begin, Colonna's forces launch a surprise assault on the Franchi clan. Almost all Franchi are killed, but the newborn twins are carried to safety by Paoli and Lorenzo.

At age twenty-one, Paoli brings the brothers back together. They vow to avenge their parents by killing Colonna, now a tyrant in Corsica. Lucien confirms that his shared sensations with Mario were real.

Tomasso figures out that the Franchi twins are behind the attacks. They set a trap using Isabelle as bait. Mario, aided by Maria, attempts a rescue but is captured and whipped to reveal hunting grounds. Paoli is forced to attend; a drug makes Mario seem dead but he is later revived.

Lucien's death and the failed escape

Lucien, believing Mario is dead, leads his men against Colonna. He is fatally shot in the back by Tomasso, but not before he kills Tomasso himself. Mario then appears and braces for a final showdown.

In a climactic sword fight, Mario defeats Colonna, ending Colonna's tyranny. Lucien dies just after reconciling with his brother, sealing the Franchi bond and the brothers' shared fate.
