The Chipmunk Adventure

Dave Seville departs for a business trip in Europe, leaving the Chipmunks Alvin, Simon, and Theodore—and their babysitter Miss Miller—in Los Angeles. The separation sets the stage for the kids' mischief and opens the door to a global adventure. This arrangement foreshadows the upcoming race that will drive the plot forward.

The Chipmunks and Chipettes play an arcade game called Around the World in 30 Days, which spurs their dream of a real race. After Brittany wins, Alvin and Brittany argue over who would win a real race around the world. The idea of a world-spanning competition begins to take shape.

Overhearing the kids' banter, Klaus and Claudia Furschtein decide to exploit them as unwitting mules for diamonds. Claudia tricks the children into competing in a real race and records a phone call to Dave to mislead Miss Miller into believing the Chipmunks will meet him in Europe. The plan weaponizes the game against the kids.

To kick off the ruse, Alvin records a phone call with Dave and edits it to make Miss Miller think Dave wants the Chipmunks to meet him in Europe. The deception triggers the international race and the criminals' broader plot. The kids are now committed to a cross-continental journey under false pretenses.

Two teams take off simultaneously by hot air balloon, each route is different, and each carries twelve dolls in their likenesses. They will exchange dolls at set locations as proof of visiting, while the dolls actually contain diamonds or cash. The peril and competition now move from home to the world.

The first leg leads the Chipmunks to Mexico City, where they join a festive fiesta. The exchange begins in earnest as stops are planned, and the kids keep faith in the race's rules. Yet the real stakes are hidden inside the dolls.

In Bermuda, the Chipettes dive to complete their first exchange at a sunken ship. Brittany is almost eaten by a great white shark, adding danger to the mission. Meanwhile, the other team continues its own exchanges.

The teams cross paths again in Athens, performing a musical number at the Acropolis to outshine one another. The spectacle nearly draws Dave’s attention, who is back home elsewhere, adding tension. The race keeps winding across continents.

Jamal's plan escalates when a sheikh's mercenaries capture the Chipettes in Giza. The prince who captures Brittany means to keep her and gifts her a baby penguin instead. The kidnappings intensify the chase across the globe.

The Chipettes escape and detour to Antarctica to return the penguin to its family. In the process, they realize they have deviated from their route and discover diamonds and cash hidden inside the dolls. They decide to stop chasing the prize and instead set out to reunite with the boys.

Claudia discovers Mario is passing information to Jamal, exposing a betrayal within the Furschtein operation. Jamal is revealed to be an Interpol Inspector, tying the criminals to a higher-law enforcement net. The revelation reframes the chase as a real manhunt across borders.

The Chipmunks are captured by a jungle tribe that names Theodore their Prince of Plenty and enslaves Alvin and Simon. They learn they are to be sacrificed by crocodiles on a full moon, but stall the execution by performing Wooly Bully and are rescued by the Chipettes. The trio's bond and teamwork help them survive the peril.

The children land at Los Angeles International Airport as Dave’s returning flight arrives. The Furschteins chase the kids and drag them into surrender by falsely claiming Ms Miller has been kidnapped. Dave arrives and joins Jamal in pursuit of the criminals.

Ms Miller, driving distracted, accidentally wipes out the Furschteins by running them off the road on a one-way street. Jamal arrests the criminals and the kids are reunited with Dave. Alvin and Brittany argue over who won the race, ending the adventure with a humorous but unresolved finish.
