The Cellar

The ending of “The Cellar” reveals that the house is essentially a gateway to a different dimension controlled by an ancient demon called Baphomet. When Keira escapes the cellar, she and her family believe they are safe, but the house’s true nature is revealed: they are caught in an endless loop of the house’s sinister realm. Upon attempting to leave, Keira notices a staircase leading up into a similar-looking room, suggesting the house has been transported into Baphomet’s domain. The family members, including Keira, Ellie, Brian, and Steven, start counting just as they first entered, sealing their fate in a cycle that traps them forever inside the house’s dark, supernatural dimension. The film ends with the implication that the house continues to exist in this dimension, perpetually ensnaring anyone who enters, leaving no escape from Baphomet’s grasp. The ending underscores a bleak, unresolved cycle, emphasizing the sinister, Lovecraftian nature of the house’s evil and its inability to be truly escaped.
