The Boxtrolls

One evening in the village of Cheesebridge, news breaks that a baby has been abducted by the mysterious Boxtrolls. Panic sweeps through the town, as everyone is left in fear of the strange creatures said to dwell underground.

Archibald Snatcher, a scruffy man, seeks an audience with the town's leader, Lord Portley-Rind. He presents the idea that the Boxtrolls are a threat to the town's cheese supply, attempting to impress Rind with his cunning plans.

In a twist of fate, Snatcher proposes to eliminate the Boxtrolls in exchange for power and a coveted white hat from Rind. Rind agrees but insists that Snatcher must first rid the village of the creatures.

Snatcher, along with his motley crew including Mr. Gristle, Mr. Trout, and Mr. Pickles, begins nightly hunts for the Boxtrolls. As they embark on these expeditions, Snatcher becomes increasingly obsessed with capturing the whimsical creatures.

The abducted baby has now grown into a boy named Eggs, who is raised by a Boxtroll named Fish. Their bond deepens as they share music and adventures, showcasing the peaceful existence of the Boxtrolls underground.

As Snatcher's hunts become more successful, he captures fish, leaving Eggs despondent. This event compels Eggs to question why the Boxtrolls must live in hiding when they could fight back against their oppressors.

Determined to help his friends, Eggs disguises himself as a human and ventures to the surface for the first time. This coincides with a festival celebrating a notorious incident involving a baby, further perpetuating the town's negative beliefs about the Boxtrolls.

During the festival, Eggs encounters Winnie, Lord Portley-Rind's daughter. She becomes intrigued by him and, realizing he needs help, directs him to Snatcher's hideout, igniting a spark of adventure in the quest to find Fish.

Inside Snatcher's factory hideout, Eggs discovers Snatcher and his crew engaged in a cheese-tasting session. Amid the chaos, he locates Fish trapped in a cage and devises a plan to rescue him, realizing the seriousness of Snatcher's evil intentions.

Once Eggs and Fish escape, they reveal vital truths: the Boxtrolls are not monsters, and Eggs might not be human at all. This knowledge sets the stage for the battle against Snatcher's fear-mongering tactics.

As Eggs prepares to reveal the truth at the gala in City Hall, Snatcher mistakenly exposes Eggs’ true identity, leading to chaos. A massive wheel of Brie cheese rolls into the lake, intensifying the pandemonium and confusion.

After Snatcher exposes Eggs, he arrives at the Boxtrolls’ lair with a contraption meant to capture them. In a climactic showdown, Eggs rallies his friends to fight back against the oppressive forces threatening their lives.

The townspeople, caught in the crossfire, witness the true nature of Snatcher as he confronts Lord Portley-Rind. In an intense fight, Snatcher’s wickedness is laid bare, resulting in his disastrous allergic reaction to forbidden cheese.

Following the confrontation, Cheesebridge becomes a welcoming place for the Boxtrolls as they are accepted by the community. Eggs reunites joyfully with his father, while Snatcher's former henchmen find new purpose in safeguarding the village.

As the story concludes, Mr. Pickles reflects on their existence, pondering a whimsical question about the unseen forces that guide them through their tiny universe. This ending leaves a delightful note of contemplation amid the resolution.
