The Blue Room

Toño is brought in by Garduño for questioning about a murder. He begins telling his story to the detective, outlining the events that led to the crime. The scene establishes the investigation’s core focus on motive and opportunity.

A few weeks earlier, Toño, his wife Ana, and their daughter decide to restart life in Toño's hometown after years in Mexico City. They hope a stable, quiet environment will repair old tensions. The move rekindles old connections that will soon complicate their marriage.

In town, Toño runs into Andrea, his adolescence crush who is now married to Nicolás. The spark of old desire returns as they reconnect. The encounter marks the beginning of a dangerous attraction.

Toño and Andrea give in to their longing and begin an extramarital affair. They hide from their spouses and use Toño's brother's hotel, with the blue room serving as their secret sanctuary. The liaison deepens despite the risk.

Rumors spread as more locals realize the affair between Toño and Andrea. The community's sense of propriety tightens, pressuring the lovers to consider ending the relationship. The constant scrutiny adds emotional strain to both families.

Nicolás's health rapidly deteriorates, culminating in his death one night. Some suspect Andrea's involvement to clear the way for Toño and Andrea together. Garduño shows Toño a note from Andrea that says "Now it's your turn," but Toño denies any culpability.

Ana uncovers Toño's affair, and a heated confrontation erupts at home. Toño storms out, and upon returning he finds the police already in the house. Ana is dead from poisoning, and Toño is taken into custody.

Garduño connects the deaths to a potential inheritance left to Andrea by Nicolás. He accuses both Toño and Andrea of plotting to kill Ana and Nicolás to claim the fortune. An anonymous tip arrives, reinforcing the theory but leaving room for doubt.

Garduño decides to check Dora's alibi and sneaks into her bakery-shop kitchen. He discovers boxes of rat poison identical to the toxin used on Ana and finds Dora as the source of the anonymous tip. Dora tearfully confesses her motive: she poisoned Ana to ruin Toño and Andrea and preserve her own shaky control.

With Dora's confession, Garduño clears Toño and Andrea of murder. He releases them, vindicated at least in his own mind for now. The couple feels a fragile sense of relief but the truth remains unsettling.

That same night, the couple reunites in the blue room for one last forbidden moment. Andrea then reveals that on the night Nicolás died she deliberately closed his oxygen valve. Her brutal admission shows a shared, calculated motive that shocks Toño.
