Cal Jamison's life takes a devastating turn when his wife, Lisa, dies from an unexpected electrocution. This tragedy compels Cal and his young son, Chris, to move from their home in Minneapolis to New York City in search of a fresh start.

In New York, Cal begins working as a police psychologist for the NYPD. He quickly finds himself embroiled in the investigation of a series of horrific child murders that are taking place across the city, each more brutal than the last.

The first victim of the child murders is discovered in an abandoned movie theater by Officer Tom Lopez. The grisly scene raises alarms as Tom suspects that these crimes are linked to a Hispanic cult involved in dark rituals.

A second child is found eviscerated beneath a dock in Staten Island, suggesting a disturbing pattern in the crimes. This discovery propels Cal to investigate the links between the murders and the concept of brujería with the help of his housekeeper Carmen.

Tom Lopez's paranoia escalates as he believes he is being pursued by the cult. In a moment of despair, he takes his own life in a diner, leaving Cal further entangled in the mystery of the cult's motives.

At a party with his new girlfriend, Jessica, Cal encounters a mysterious Caribbean man named Palo. The tension rises when Palo attempts to steal a necklace from Jessica, setting off a series of events that deepen the narrative's mystery.

Cal and Jessica consult Oscar Sezine, a friend of Tom’s, who warns them about the cult's plans to conduct a ritual murder during the upcoming summer solstice. Oscar performs a purification ritual in hopes of protecting Chris, who may be a target.

Cal receives a frantic call from Lieutenant Sean McTaggert, who appears dangerously paranoid and reveals he has a secret file about Robert Calder’s past crimes. After revealing shocking details, McTaggert tragically takes his own life in front of Cal.

After suffering from an illness linked to a boil on her face, Jessica has a horrifying experience when spiders emerge from the wound. This incites panic and emphasizes the dark forces surrounding her as Cal rushes to support her.

With Jessica hospitalized, Cal goes to his aunt and uncle's country house but is met with increasing tension and confusion. Dennis, Jessica's brother, recounts a traumatic past experience involving human sacrifice, adding to Cal's dread.

Cal discovers that members of the cult, including Palo and Calder, have arrived at the house and reveal their intentions to sacrifice Chris. In an act of desperation, Cal flees, realizing he must save his son at all costs.

In his frantic search for Chris, Cal stumbles upon the lifeless body of his ex-wife, Kate, hidden in the boathouse. This tragic discovery heightens his urgency to rescue his son before it's too late, amplifying the stakes.

Cal arrives at an abandoned factory where the cult plans to carry out Chris’s ritual murder. In a fierce struggle, Cal confronts and kills Dennis, a shocking betrayal as he fights for his son’s life amidst the chaos.

In a heart-pounding climax, Cal chases Robert Calder, who has taken Chris to the top of the warehouse. In a final confrontation, Cal manages to kill Calder and rescue his son just before being attacked by the cult.

In the aftermath of the horrific events, Cal, Jessica, and Chris find solace on a farm in the countryside. However, a chilling revelation awaits when Cal discovers Jessica has created an unsettling altar in the barn, implying that the past may not be fully buried.
