After the tragic and unexpected death of his wife Lisa, who suffers from an accidental electrocution, Cal Jamison embarks on a life-altering journey, moving him and his young son, Chris, from Minneapolis to the bustling streets of New York City. Here, Cal, played by the talented Lindsey Ginter, takes on the role of a police psychologist for the New York City Police Department. As he settles into his new position, Cal is confronted with a horrific wave of brutal, ritualistic child murders that have left the city in fear.

The terror begins when a young boy is discovered murdered in the desolate remains of an abandoned movie theater. In this chaotic atmosphere, a police officer, Tom Lopez, quickly contacts the authorities, indicating that the heinous acts are being perpetrated by a Hispanic cult practicing a sinister form of brujería—a notion that sends shivers through the already fraying nerves of the community. Cal is appointed to assess Tom, who spirals into frantic rants about the cult’s formidable leader looming over him.

As the investigation intensifies, another victim is unearthed beneath a dock in Staten Island, brutally eviscerated on a makeshift altar that raises more questions than answers. Cal’s search for the truth leads him to consult Carmen, his housekeeper and caretaker, who holds a more benevolent understanding of brujería. She leaves protective talismans in their home, intending to shield both Cal and Chris from the encroaching darkness. Nevertheless, their sense of security is shattered when Tom, caught in the throes of paranoia and feeling stalked by shadowy figures, takes his own life in a diner.

Meanwhile, Cal tries to maintain a semblance of normality by introducing Jessica, his new girlfriend, into his life. However, the tension escalates when they attend a gathering where a mysterious Caribbean man named Palo attempts to steal from Jessica, setting off a series of events filled with painstakingly crafted suspense. Cal’s return home becomes a turning point when he interrupts Carmen mid-ritual over Chris, compelling him to expel her despite her pleas to protect his son.

In a twist of fate, Chris finds himself whisked away to the countryside with his affluent Aunt Kate and Uncle Dennis for what is supposed to be a peaceful retreat. In the meantime, Cal consults Oscar Sezine, a friend of Tom’s, who warns of an impending ritual murder aimed for the summer solstice—a mere four days away. The stakes rise even higher after Oscar performs a purification ritual, attempting to safeguard Chris from an unsettling fate.

However, bad luck prevails when Jessica develops a horrifying boil on her face, ejecting baby spiders into the world after bursting. With Chris in potential danger and overwhelmed with worry, Cal’s continued efforts to reach Kate for updates is fraught with peril. A frantic call leads him to uncover distressing events at Kate’s home, where he finds a manic lieutenant, Sean McTaggert, lost in his fears and clutching a stash of incriminating files that depict elite businessman Robert Calder’s tragic sacrificial history.

“His son was the offering,”— these chilling revelations add an unshakable sense of dread to Cal’s mission.

While the darkness closes in around them, Jessica teeters on the edge of sanity, and fear mounts around Chris’s safety as Cal embarks on a race against time to retrieve his son. Each moment becomes more desperate, leading to shocking revelations when he reunites with Kate after a lengthy search to find that she is missing—her fate unknown. The horror continues to unfold when Cal is intercepted by Palo and Calder, who assert that Chris has been preordained to be a sacrifice to their dark cause.

In a furious showdown at the cult’s lair, Cal confronts his worst nightmares as he battles to save his son. The confrontation leads to a brutal end, with Cal thrust into violence—stabbing Dennis and racing to prevent Chris’s impending doom amidst the chaotic backdrop of the cult’s intents. With the support of his friend Marty, they desperately strive to shatter the grips of the malevolent cult that seeks to claim Chris as their own.

Eventually, with unyielding courage, Cal faces off against Calder, ensuring no child will suffer the same fate as those before. The harrowing confrontation climaxes when Palo, in a moment of desperation, meets his downfall, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the shadows.

Time passes, and in a seemingly idyllic life, Cal, alongside Jessica—now expecting their child—have established a peaceful existence on a farm. Yet, tranquility gives way to unease as Cal is drawn to their barn loft, discovering an altar laden with disturbing religious icons complemented by the offerings of sacrificed animals. With a blend of horror and realization, he confronts Jessica, only to learn that she has been performing rituals for their safety, declaring, “I did it for us. We’ll be safe now.” This revelation leaves Cal in a state of shock as the screen fades to black, hinting at the ever-looming darkness that may still linger just beneath the surface.
