The Autopsy of Jane Doe

An unidentified young woman's corpse is found half-buried in a basement, marked by a gruesome murder scene. The police officer concludes that there are no signs of forced entry, suggesting that the victims were trying to escape the house.

Coroner Tommy Tilden and his son Austin begin performing an autopsy on a burned body. Austin's girlfriend Emma arrives at the morgue, leading to discussions about the history of corpses and the strange case of Jane Doe.

Sheriff Burke presents the mysterious body of Jane Doe to Tommy, pressing for a quick determination of the cause of death. Despite having plans with Emma, Austin chooses to help his father instead.

The external examination of Jane Doe reveals no visible injuries, yet her corpse appears unnaturally fresh. The examination uncovers shattered bones and a severed tongue, demonstrating the brutality of her end.

While conducting the autopsy, Tommy and Austin experience bizarre events, including the radio changing channels on its own. When Tommy makes an incision, blood flows unnaturally from Jane Doe, heightening their unease.

Tommy finds Jimsonweed in Jane Doe's stomach, indicating she was exposed to a paralyzing agent. The unusual findings and strange sounds in the airshaft arouse their suspicions about her identity and the circumstances of her death.

As they continue the investigation, they discover a missing tooth wrapped in cloth inside Jane Doe's abdomen. The tooth contains Roman numerals and letters, suggesting a deeper mystery tied to her past.

Suddenly, lights explode, throwing the autopsy room into darkness, and they find the storage chambers empty. This alarming occurrence makes them realize something is very wrong as they struggle to comprehend the turn of events.

As Tommy and Austin try to leave, they find the exit blocked and the elevator inoperable. An ominous bell tolls and they are attacked by an unseen entity, causing Tommy to suffer a mysterious injury.

In an attempt to cremate Jane Doe, the autopsy room locks itself, trapping Tommy and Austin inside. An accident causes Austin to fatally wound Emma, leaving them both devastated and without hope.

The investigation resumes as Tommy discovers that Jane Doe's brain tissue is actively functioning. This leads them to conclude that she could be linked to witchcraft, possibly rooted in Salem’s dark history.

In a desperate bid to protect Austin, Tommy offers himself to the spirit of Jane Doe. As he endures the same injuries she suffered, Austin watches in horror, ultimately making the heartbreaking decision to end his father's suffering.

Austin, confused and grief-stricken, encounters the apparition of his father after narrowly escaping the chaos. In a tragic misstep, he falls over the railing, succumbing to fatal injuries in the aftermath.

Law enforcement arrives at the scene the following day, only to find a crime scene that defies clear explanation. They discover Jane Doe’s body remains untouched, raising questions about the bizarre events of the night before.

As Jane Doe’s body is taken to another county, an eerie twitch from her toe hints that her suffering may not be over. Accompanied by the haunting sound of a bell, the unresolved mystery of her existence lingers.
