The Adventures of Tartu

In the bleak winter of 1943, Europe is a patchwork of occupied territories where secret wars are fought behind the front lines. Into this tinderbox is dropped a lone British operative, Terence Stevenson, a bomb‑defusing specialist whose fluency in Romanian and German and training in chemical engineering make him an unusual spy. His orders are simple in their gravity: infiltrate a hostile regime, uncover a dangerous new weapon and dismantle the engine that will produce it.

To gain access, he assumes the identity of Jan Tartu, a captain linked to the Iron Guard, and is parachuted into Romania before being shuttled onward to Czechoslovakia. The disguise forces him to navigate a world of military uniforms, partisan whispers and uneasy hospitality, where every conversation could reveal a truth or betray a secret. The atmosphere crackles with the ever‑present risk of discovery, and the line between his true self and his fabricated persona grows increasingly thin.

Living under the same roof as German inspector Otto Vogel and the enigmatic Maruschuka Lanova, he is drawn into a delicate dance of loyalties.
