Christian 'Chris' Wolff grows up with high-functioning autism which presents both challenges and unique abilities. He is offered a chance to live at the Harbor Neuroscience Institute, where he forms a special bond with Justine, the director's mute daughter.

Chris's military father chooses to raise him alongside his neurotypical brother, Braxton, believing that challenges will strengthen Chris. This decision leads to rigorous training around the globe, helping Chris develop skills that he will later use to protect himself in the criminal world.
