The Abyss

In January 1994, the USS Montana, an Ohio-class submarine, strikes an unidentified underwater entity near the Cayman Trough. This catastrophic incident results in the sub sinking, prompting an immediate response from both American and Soviet forces.

Following the disaster, the U.S. government mobilizes a SEAL team to the Deep Core, a cutting-edge underwater drilling platform. Dr. Lindsey Brigman, despite her complicated history with foreman Bud Brigman, insists on joining the mission to investigate the wreck.

While investigating, the SEAL team experiences a mysterious power outage in their submersibles. Dr. Lindsey Brigman witnesses an unusual light orbiting the wreck, which she later identifies as a phenomenon connected to a non-terrestrial intelligence or NTI.
