Tarzan II

Tarzan grows up in the jungle under the care of a gorilla family after his parents die. He worries about the rumored monster Zugor and dreams of proving himself. He also feels frustrated that he cannot run as fast as the other young gorillas, and his efforts to impress often disrupt the group, much to Kerchak's dismay.

A canyon crossing accident makes Kala believe Tarzan has died, and the other gorillas share the belief. To protect the group from his absence, Tarzan decides it would be best if he distances himself from the family. He slips away into the jungle to spare them pain.

Tarzan is alone when Sabor the leopard pursues him. He ends up in the rocky Dark Mountain, where he is captured by two hulking gorilla brothers, Uto and Kago, and their overprotective mother, Gunda.

When the monster's echo is heard in the valley, Sabor runs away and the captors become as frightened as Tarzan. The three of them scatter, giving Tarzan a chance to slip away. He begins to learn the lay of the land in this unfamiliar place.

Tarzan encounters a capricious old gorilla who initially keeps him at a distance. He soon discovers that this old gorilla is Zugor, who uses hollow trees as loudspeakers to amplify his voice and pretend to be a monster to scare others away from his territory.

Tarzan's cheerful and helpful nature earns Zugor's reluctant friendship. Tarzan persuades Zugor to let him stay, and the two form a tentative alliance while keeping Zugor's real identity a secret.

Tarzan's two best friends, Terk and Tantor, search for him in the jungle. Kala also learns that Tarzan is alive and begins her own search for him.

Terk and Tantor encounter Mama Gunda and her sons at the Dark Mountain and get into trouble, but manage to escape. They eventually reunite with Tarzan, and the group leaves the Dark Mountain together, with Mama Gunda and her sons in pursuit.

Tarzan reveals to Mama Gunda and her sons that there is no monster, which they overhear, realizing Zugor's deception. They begin to look for Zugor, fueling the chase back into the jungle.

Uto and Kago destroy Tarzan's treehouse in revenge, and Zugor accuses Tarzan of breaking his promise to him, leaving and refusing to help any more.

Kala arrives near the Dark Mountain and is confronted by Mama Gunda and her sons. Tarzan realizes Kala has tricks that only a member of his jungle family can do, and Zugor returns to befriend him again.

Tarzan uses tricks and traps to defeat Uto and Kago. Terk and Tantor try to save Kala when she starts to fall off a cliff, and Tarzan saves her while Zugor holds Mama Gunda hostage.

Tarzan tells Kala that she was right and that he is part of the family. With Terk and Tantor, he returns to the pack, now accepted as a true member of the gorilla family.

Kala hugs Tarzan and expresses her pride in him for saving her. Tarzan, Terk, and Tantor play a game with a monster, and Tarzan feels happy and proud of who he is.
