Talakjung vs Tulke

Tulke is a cheerful laborer living simply in a remote village in Nepal. He enjoys life with a close-knit circle of friends—Hanuman, Tanke, Dhikare, and an old man—and the group often gathers at a local liquor shop to share drinks. He works for Babu Raja, a powerful village merchant who wields dictatorial influence.

One day Tulke spots his friend Hanuman among Maoist rebels and urges him to let him join the rebel group. The moment marks Tulke's shift from ordinary laborer to someone drawn to the insurgent cause. He hopes to stand with his friend and fight for the rebels.

Babu Raja and Binay invite Tulke to a dinner to glean more information about Hanuman. The session turns dangerous when Tulke, in a drunken moment, reveals Hanuman’s secret rebel status. Babu Raja and Binay use the admission to tighten their grip on Tulke.

Fuli saves Tulke by blaming him for molestation, humiliating him and exiling him from the village. The act shatters his normal life and cuts him off from his friends and home. Tulke is forced to start anew away from everything he knows.

In Kathmandu, Tulke encounters a city gang leader and joins his crew, which recovers protection money, engages in theft, and operates as fake election agents. The gang gives him a new family, but the criminal life soon reveals its dangers. His time in the city draws him deeper into violence and crime.

The gang is exposed, and the boss is killed in a police encounter, leaving Tulke as the sole survivor. He returns with the money to his village, only to find that his friends and the old man are missing. The homecoming forces him to confront the consequences of his choices.

The old man pleads with Tulke to return to the city, while Tulke learns that Hanuman was killed by Babu Raja and Binay to crush the rebels and protect their dictatorship. The revelation hardens Tulke's resolve and sets him on a collision course with his former protectors. He must decide where his loyalty truly lies.

Tulke confronts Babu Raja and Binay, slapping Binay in a tense clash that underscores his stubborn loyalty to his friends and to the village. The moment crystallizes his position between personal loyalty and the larger political struggle. The confrontation signals the unraveling of the corrupt leadership in the village.

To protect themselves from rebels, Binay and Babu Raja decide to fund the rebellion, but demand more money. Binay even enlists police help to wipe out the rebels, while Fuli, Suke, and Tanke are revealed to be actual rebels. Tensions escalate as double-dealing and betrayal push the conflict toward open warfare.

A brutal confrontation erupts between rebels and police, spurred by Babu Raja’s maneuvers across the village and surrounding area. Binay falls during the fighting, and his father meets with the minister to push for a broader crackdown on the rebellion. The village is engulfed in violence with heavy losses on all sides.

A few days later, Fuli and Suke stash explosives at Tulke's home, setting the stage for a major confrontation. The ensuing war sees Suke kill Babu Raja but die soon after; the police arrest the surviving rebels, including Tulke, as explosives are found in his house. On the way to custody, Tulke refuses to identify Fuli, choosing love over loyalty to the cause.

Fuli leaves the village on a bus, and Tulke is left to reflect on the price of rebellion and the cost of listening to one’s heart. The ending lingers on the personal cost of loyalty and love in a time of political violence. Tulke’s thoughts probe what it means to listen to one's heart in a world of conflict.
