In the final scenes of Studio 666, the evil spirit that has possessed Dave Grohl is finally confronted and expelled by Nate and Pat, who read from the “living” book and sacrifice the souls of the trapped band members and Null to banish the darkness. The spirits of the 90s band members, who had been imprisoned by the evil entity, are freed and disappear after feeding their blood into the book, which feeds off the sacrifice to die. Sadly, Nate and Pat also die in the process. However, the true nature of the ending leaves a lingering question: Dave is seen one year later, seemingly possessed again, waiting to perform on stage. His eyes have turned completely black, suggesting that some part of the evil spirit might still remain within him. The film hints that the portal to hell, opened by Dave’s cursed song, might not have fully closed. Instead, it could be a gateway to a supernatural world where heavy metal fans like Dave can exist in an eternal realm of chaos and insanity — a place reachable through their art. The ending raises the possibility that Dave’s possession might not be entirely over, leaving the door open for a potential sequel. Ultimately, the film blends horror and comedy to show that, despite life’s flaws, the show must go on, even into a hellish, rock-infused afterworld.
