State of Emergency

A chemical plant explodes, triggering a military quarantine of the surrounding area. Jim helplessly watches his girlfriend Emilie die from wounds she sustained while trying to reach safety. He retreats to a farmhouse to endure the chaos and isolation.

Sporadic media reports suggest the plant may have stored biological weapons that mutate people into rabid cannibals. The threat seems to loom over the quarantined zone, heightening fear and desperation. Jim's sense of safety erodes as the outside world becomes increasingly inaccessible.

Ix's diabetes becomes a perilous secret as she slips into a diabetic coma. Jim decides to leave the warehouse to seek insulin and keep her alive, risking exposure to the undead.

Jim evades zombies and retrieves insulin from emergency supplies airdropped by the military. The rescue operation is tense and fraught with danger, but it saves Ix's life.

When Jim returns, he finds Scott under attack by a zombie and intervenes to save him. The act reinforces trust within the group and strengthens Jim's bond with the survivors.

Zombies break into the warehouse, forcing the survivors to retreat upstairs into the offices. The sudden invasion shatters their fragile safety and compels them to look for higher, safer ground.

A squad of Marines locates the group, tranquilizes Jim, and disables his escape attempt. He wakes up strapped in an observation room, where a scientist begins to explain the situation.

The scientist reveals that the plant released a neurotoxin causing homicidal behavior in those exposed. Tests show that Jim, Scott, Julie, and Ix are uninfected, allowing them to go free.

The group reunites after the ordeal, and Jim and Ix share a quiet embrace. The experience of loss and survival strengthens their bond as they look toward an uncertain future.
