Outraged and feeling the weight of racial and economic prejudices, Escalante confronts the investigating professors, acknowledging his unintentional role in their scoring similarities.

Determined to validate his students’ abilities and prove their worth to both the school and the nation, they agree to retake the test by summer’s end. With only one day to prepare, the pressure is enormous, but they prepare to show they are capable of success.
