Jennie Hagen, a day‑dreaming waitress, yearns to be a famous actress while she and her boyfriend, cook Orma Wilson, plan to own a diner. When a riverboat troupe visits, Orma becomes infatuated with star actress Lillian Lyons. Determined to win him back, Jennie steps onto the stage, but quickly finds herself out of her depth.
