Dr. Mark Clyne, a DARPA researcher, is urgently called to Moldova due to the ongoing conflict in the Moldovan War. His expertise is needed to discuss his latest invention, the hyperspectral imaging goggles, that have been issued to US military troops.

Upon arriving at a US Military Air Base near Chisinau, Clyne meets General Orland and CIA officer Fran Madison. They present him with disturbing footage showing a translucent humanoid apparition that appears to possess deadly capabilities.

Clyne and Madison are deployed alongside Delta Force operators to locate the Utah team that disappeared the previous day. Clyne mounts a large version of his hyperspectral camera on an armored personnel carrier to gain a clearer view of the supernatural phenomena.

The team reaches the site where the Utah team was last seen, only to find them brutally killed. They are immediately ambushed by the same apparitions they were investigating, leading to significant casualties among the soldiers.

After suffering heavy losses, Clyne and the surviving soldiers find refuge in an abandoned factory. Inside, they encounter two children who reveal their father’s strategy of using iron shavings to fend off the apparitions, which proves to be a critical advantage.

The group establishes communication with the air base and organizes a rendezvous. Clyne innovatively transforms his camera into a searchlight to track the apparitions, while they rig IEDs with iron shavings to enhance their defense.

As they exit the factory, the spectral beings pursue them, albeit hindered by the iron explosives they deployed. The group's escape leads them to a large plaza, where they are supposed to meet reinforcements for aerial extraction.

The group is ambushed by the apparitions upon the arrival of supposed reinforcements. They narrowly escape the assault, but not before witnessing the apparitions destroy tanks and kill soldiers sent to assist them.

While airborne, the soldiers learn from General Orland that the apparitions have overwhelmed the Air Base. As a result, plans are made to redirect the group to a civilian bunker controlled by the Moldovan military.

Clyne speculates that the apparitions are man-made entities consisting of Bose-Einstein condensate. This insight helps the remaining soldiers and engineers devise a way to combat this unnatural force with specialized weapons.

Working through the night, Clyne and surviving engineers manage to create makeshift pulse weapons designed to break down the condensate. The remaining American soldiers take these new weapons as they prepare for their next mission.

The soldiers confront the apparitions at a crucial power plant intended to generate energy for their pulse weapons. The battle rages on as they combat both the apparitions and the adventurous realms of science.

In a recently vacated lab, Clyne and Madison uncover terrifying evidence of experiments where human consciousness was linked to the condensate apparitions. This chilling finding reveals the horrific reality behind the creation of these beings.

At a critical moment, Clyne triggers a failsafe that deactivates the apparitions, ending their reign of terror. He compassionately unplugs the human remnants linked to the machine, providing them with a long-desired peace.

With the apparitions neutralized, the US and Moldovan Allied military initiate operations to reclaim the city from insurgents. As Clyne prepares to leave, he reflects on his traumatic experiences and the impact of the events he witnessed in Moldova.
