In the small town of Big Bean, Illinois, a confrontation occurs when Sheriff Sam and his deputy Russell face an angry local named Mr. Rendfield. The Farmers' Trust CEO, T.W. Klembecker, pressures the sheriff by revealing his involvement in the threats against Rendfield's mortgage. This encounter highlights the tension between the townspeople and the powerful company.

On Halloween night, the residents of Big Bean are engaged in the holiday spirit. A local DJ sets the mood with a broadcasting of 'The War of the Worlds', igniting excitement among the town's elderly listeners. Meanwhile, young alien invaders receive directions towards Earth, unknowingly drawn in by the radio broadcast.

The five aliens become disoriented as their spaceship lands in Big Bean, leading to an unexpected entry into town. Their effort to disguise themselves as humans results in humorous misunderstandings during their observations of local trick-or-treaters. This moment marks the beginning of their comical attempts to interact with Earth’s inhabitants.

As the children celebrate Halloween, the aliens mistakenly believe they can blend in.
