Uncle Claude arrives at the Ardmore Beach Hotel with granddaughters Ruth and Sally to visit nephew Tommy and his wife. There he meets Letty, a wise employee, prompting him to leave. Mistaking Grace for his own wife, he admires her neat housekeeping. To secure a check from Claude and try each other's lives, the two couples swap spouses for a week.
