In Melbourne, Angela works as a young hairdresser while her puritanical mother tightly controls her finances. She dreams of saving enough money to live abroad and imagines a life beyond her current limitations. That tension between independence and parental control sets the stage for what follows.

Madeline, a glamorous client, encourages Angela to pursue print modeling. Angela reluctantly agrees and participates in an outdoor photoshoot for a perfume ad photographed by Linsey. The shoot exposes both the allure and vulnerability of Angela as she poses topless.

After attending a party with Madeline, Angela returns home to find her mother has locked her out because of the modeling. Ex-boyfriend Daryl arrives, hoping to rekindle their relationship, but Angela refuses. The confrontation foreshadows the dangerous social circles Angela is entering.

With nowhere to go, Angela stays the night at Linsey's home. The encounter marks her gradual immersion into the modeling world, exposing her to new opportunities and pressures. She begins to see how the industry can wield control over her life.

Angela's mother emphasizes that Angela must contribute to medical bills for her younger sister. The demand adds financial leverage over Angela and compounds her moral conflict about her modeling work. The pressure intensifies her dependence on modeling income.

Angela visits Elmer, the wealthy modeling agency owner, at his mansion for a supposed barbecue. He promises exposure and even hints at an acting career, then persuades her to undress for photographs. Sensing manipulation, she leaves before agreeing to anything further.

Back at the house shared with Linsey and other models, Angela is told a bag of belongings was dropped off. When she checks her bed, she finds a severed pig's head under the covers, heightening her sense that someone is watching and targeting her.

Angela is offered a modeling job in Fiji and starts packing. As she prepares to leave, she hears an ice cream truck and sees Daryl outside, seemingly stalking her. She tries to depart discreetly, but anxiety and fear push her toward the agency for safety.

At the agency, Elmer again tries to force Angela into posing. They struggle, and Angela manages to fight back by setting him on fire, burning him to death. The violent confrontation marks a climactic turn in her fight against exploitation.

Daryl arrives and tries to rescue Angela by breaking down the door, but cannot. Angela unlocks the door from the inside, and they escape together through a back alley, evading the authorities.

Angela confronts Daryl about the pig's head, but he denies involvement. Madeline suddenly arrives driving Daryl's truck and collides with him, killing him, leaving Angela shocked and hurried into the truck.

Madeline tells Angela she will be late for her plane to Fiji as they drive away, setting up the final movement toward leaving for Fiji. Angela is hustled toward a new journey in the final scene.
