Sister Death

In 1949, ten years after the Civil War, Narcisa joins the convent that has been reformed into a school for girls. She is welcomed by Sister Julia and the Mother Superior, who is eager to have the famed holy girl among them. They assign her the duty of teaching the girls, taking over from Sister Inés, and she begins settling into her new room.

In her new room, Narcisa uncovers a cigar box containing letters, scissors, and a funerary photograph of Sister Socorro. The discovery unsettles her and foreshadows a link to the convent's haunted history. She begins to suspect that not all is as it seems within the walls.

Shortly after her arrival, Narcisa experiences horrific nightmares and unexplained phenomena, including a chair that falls on its own and an incomplete hangman drawing on the wall. A student is frightened merely by seeing Narcisa write her own name on the blackboard. The events shake her faith and reveal a supernatural presence within the convent.

Two girls find the scissors from the cigar box in the bathroom, and Sister Julia punishes Rosa for causing trouble. Narcisa visits Rosa in confinement to seek answers and learns from Rosa about the haunting entity they call the girl. Rosa explains that the spirit curses those whose names appear on the blackboard.

Rosa tells Narcisa more about the haunting and the name curse, and together they attempt to communicate with the spirit by completing a hangman drawing. Rosa notices a shadowy figure behind Narcisa before the figure seems to vanish. The sense of danger deepens as the past presses into the present.

Frantically, Narcisa searches the convent for Rosa and experiences a disturbing moment in the confessional booth. She then discovers Rosa hanging behind a lattice, silent and dead. Sister Julia blames Narcisa for the girl's death and the haunting intensifies.

Narcisa leaves the convent during the next solar eclipse and is blinded as she looks at it. In a trance she witnesses the plunder and sexual violence that occurred at the convent during the Civil War. The vision shatters her sense of safety and reveals a hidden chapter of the past.

Back in her room, the spirit of Sister Socorro appears and shows Narcisa that Socorro was raped during the war and conceived a daughter. The other nuns tried to keep the child hidden and eventually locked Socorro away. Narcisa learns the child’s fate and the convent’s complicity in the tragedy.

Socorro’s daughter dies after the adults try to move her to a hospital, and Socorro hangs herself in Narcisa's room upon realizing what happened. Socorro’s spirit returns to exact vengeance on Sister Julia and the Mother Superior, destroying them both. Their deaths expose the brutal legacy that haunted the convent for decades.

Decades pass and Narcisa grows into an elderly nun who now teaches a new class, earning the mocking nickname 'Sister Death.' The convent remains haunted, but she carries the burden with quiet resolve. The past continues to reach into the present as another student, Verónica, enters her classroom.

A new student named Verónica sits among Narcisa's class, signaling that the spirits' influence still lingers. Narcisa senses the ongoing danger and the cycle of trauma may continue. The film closes with Verónica’s presence as a link between past and present.
