In the deep South of 1932 Mississippi, the lingering echo of war and the promise of fresh horizons converge on a dusty crossroads where music is both a refuge and a rebellion. Two identical twins, Smoke and Stack, return from the streets of Chicago bearing the scars of combat and the weight of disillusionment. They carry a bold vision: to transform a rundown sawmill into a lively juke joint that will give the Black community a place to gather, celebrate, and hear the blues that pulse through their blood.

The twins gather a ragtag crew to bring their dream to life. Sammie—a gifted guitarist haunted by his father’s disapproval—offers his raw talent, while Delta Slim brings piano and harmonica to the mix, and the captivating singer Pearline adds a voice that can sweet‑talk the night itself. Alongside them stands Annie, the twins’ estranged wife whose quiet strength hints at deeper mysteries, and a cast of local shopkeepers and patrons whose ordinary lives are about to be tested by forces beyond their control.

Against a backdrop of racial tension, lingering Klan presence, and the oppressive weight of a community yearning for escape, the atmosphere crackles with a blend of soulful blues and simmering dread.
