In medieval Europe, two vampire sisters search for untainted blood during the Black Death, but the true threat is the silence that hides them. Centuries later their descendant faces the same prejudice in Spain’s AIDS crisis, learning that society still condemns the forbidden love between the sick and the healthy, humans and vampires, and that the terror endures across ages.

Ally, her parents Hugh and Kelly, and Grandma Lynn finally reach a remote safe‑house after a frantic search for antibiotics. Their temporary relief is shattered when the fanatical cult known as the Hushed follows them, intent on taking Ally because the reverend claims she is “fertile.” Hugh brandishes a rifle and forces the cultists to retreat, but the danger is far from over.
That night the cult sends a young girl carrying several cell‑phones set to emit loud alarms the moment she steps inside. The sudden noise draws a swarm of Vesps, the sound‑hunting monsters that have devastated the world. The family scrambles to a basement, only to discover the cult members have already broken in, hoping to use the chaos to capture Ally.
In a desperate act, Grandma Lynn lifts her voice and screams, attracting the Vesps directly to the intruders. The creatures devour both Lynn and the cultists, buying the Andrews family the precious seconds they need to escape.
With the immediate threat eliminated, Hugh, Kelly, and Ally flee northward to a frozen refuge where the Vesps cannot thrive. There they are joined by Ally’s boyfriend Rob, and the film closes on the small group hunting the remaining insects in the snow‑covered woods—alive, silent, and determined to survive in a world that has forced humanity to adapt to silence.
