Sarah shouts at the teens when they try to wash her windshield, and a pang of guilt makes her offer them some cash. Jenna and Jackson enter her car and convince her to drive them to a different corner so they can beg. The uneasy encounter sets off a dangerous chain of events.

The teens force Sarah to drive to her newly purchased cabin in a remote wilderness. They begin to tie her up and toy with her, escalating the threat.

Tensions rise as Sarah uses seduction to create an opening with Jackson. He tries to rape her, and she knocks him unconscious with a rock, gaining her chance to flee.

Sarah escapes the cabin and runs into the forest to put distance between herself and the teens. She slashes the tires of her truck so they cannot follow by road.

Back at the cabin, Jenna and Jackson drink wine and celebrate. Jackson makes a move on Jenna and they end up having sex, though Jenna seems uneasy.

In the morning, Jenna leaves Jackson and heads into the forest to self-harm, isolated from the others.

Sarah, still lost, finds Jenna's tree carvings that lead to a photo of Jenna's mother who allegedly died in a car accident. She then discovers Jenna asleep on the ground with fresh wounds and decides to take her back to the cabin.

The trio spends a night drinking wine and celebrating Jenna's 17th birthday. It is revealed that Sarah is a lesbian and that her relationship with her partner Sam is strained as they approach their tenth anniversary.

The morning after, Sarah and Jenna share a kiss as a troubling bond forms. Later, Sarah finds a picture among Jenna's belongings that reveals they are brother and sister.

A man Jenna previously met at a gas station shows up at the cabin and is confronted by the teenagers. To avoid suspicion, Sarah pretends he is her child, but he notices the broken window and Jackson kills him with a blow to the head.

Jackson and Jenna panic and hatch a plan to murder Sarah so she cannot testify. Jackson pressures Jenna to cut Sarah's throat, but Jenna cannot go through with it.

Feeling betrayed, Jackson runs to the lake beside the cabin and drowns while swimming far out, leaving Jenna and Sarah in shock.

Sarah drops Jenna off on a road, gives her her expensive bracelet, and drives away. She remarks that all she wanted was to save them.
