Sheep Without a Shepherd

Ping Ping is sexually assaulted during a summer camp by Su Cha, the mayor's son. He uses the assault to blackmail Ping Ping into providing further sexual favors. The family becomes trapped by this secret, trying to hide the truth from others.

Su Cha arranges a meeting on Ping Ping's family property, where Ayu confronts him to defend her daughter. During the confrontation, Su Cha assaults Ayu, and Ping Ping accidentally kills him. The trio hastily buries Su Cha's body in Weijie's uncle's grave at the local cemetery, and An An witnesses part of the event.

Weijie learns of the murder and moves to shield his family from police action. He destroys key evidence, including Su Cha's car and mobile phone. To strengthen their alibi, he takes the family on a weekend trip to Hua Lamphong, while gathering bus tickets and invoices and teaching them how to respond to interrogations.

Local police officer Sang Kun spots Weijie driving Su Cha's car while it is being disposed of. His testimony is initially dismissed because of his reputation, but it raises La Wen's suspicions and pushes the investigation toward Weijie. The police focus intensifies as the car's disappearance and other clues come under scrutiny.

Despite intensive interrogations of Weijie, his family, and key witnesses, La Wen struggles to break the alibi. The family’s carefully staged weekend trip and witnesses' memories help sustain the illusion of innocence for the time being. The investigation tightens as more inconsistencies surface.

Sang Kun reveals that Weijie is a crime film enthusiast. La Wen orders detectives to search Weijie's shop and uncovers a list of recently watched films. The film list suggests Weijie had been constructing a falsified timeline and manipulating witnesses.

Convinced of guilt but lacking direct proof, La Wen resorts to coercive measures. She tortures parts of Weijie's family to try to extract a confession from An An. The escalation highlights the ethical and legal tipping point in the investigation.

La Wen orders the public exhumation of Su Cha's grave to shore up the case. To everyone's shock, the grave yields the carcass of a goat, not Su Cha, which was planted earlier by Sang Kun. This revelation triggers a massive riot as locals rally to defend Weijie and his family.

The riot and the controversy lead to La Wen's indefinite suspension and Du Peng's resignation as mayor. Amid the upheaval, Weijie and his family are publicly exonerated in the aftermath.

Burdened by guilt, Weijie confesses to his role in the killing to La Wen and Du Peng. He is sentenced to prison. It is heavily implied that Su Cha's body was moved from the grave to a construction site where Weijie had been working.
