In the bustling waters of Southside Reef, Oscar, a bluestreak cleaner wrasse, dreams of becoming a tongue-scrubber at the renowned Whale Wash. This aspiration is deeply rooted in his childhood fantasies, despite the ridicule he faces from his peers.

Oscar grapples with significant financial challenges and finds himself deep in debt to Sykes, an enigmatic pufferfish. This debt weighs heavily on him as he continues to pursue his career goals amidst adversity.

Oscar's closest friend, Angie, a beautiful angelfish, gifts him a precious pearl. He hopes to pawn the pearl to alleviate his financial burden, showing the depth of their friendship and Angie's unwavering support.

Don Lino, the powerful mob boss of the reef, grows concerned about his vegetarian son, Lenny, who lacks ambition and direction. In an effort to instill purpose, he assigns Lenny to Frankie's mentorship, aiming to toughen him up.
