In the final moments of “Settlers,” Remmy manages to escape the confines of her settlement after discovering that the exterior atmosphere is protected by a glass-like barrier, and that she needs an oxygen mask to survive outside. She secretly keeps one for herself, which becomes crucial when Jerry, the hostile ranger, discovers her hidden oxygen supply and tries to assault her. Thanks to her quick thinking and the help of her robot, she defends herself and ultimately kills Jerry. With Jerry gone, Remmy uses her skills to repair parts of the settlement and to construct an oxygen mask, allowing her to breathe outside the settlement for the first time. She then hands control of the remaining refuge to her robot and ventures through an underground chamber, walking into the unknown to explore new lands. The ending suggests that despite the devastation and conflict, Remmy’s courage and ingenuity give her a chance to escape her tragic past and seek new possibilities beyond her confined world.
