In 1947, Padre Ricardo arrives at a crowded marketplace to investigate miraculous healings performed by a mysterious child named Anghela Sta. Ana. He witnesses the crowd's awe as she heals the sick, but a dark detail unsettles him: a black liquid drips from Anghela's mouth after each healing. The visit marks the beginning of his uneasy inquiry into the true nature of her powers.

A mysterious nun, Sister Cecilia, quietly supports Anghela as her powers astonish onlookers. The miracles continue to charm the faithful while raising Ricardo's suspicions about the source of Anghela's abilities. The atmosphere thickens with a sense that something sinister may be behind the performances.

Miguel travels to a nearby monastery, where he meets Sandoval, a former priest who was excommunicated. Sandoval explains the old ecclesiastical custom: temporary deacons are secluded at the end of their training, a seven-day window believed to leave them vulnerable to demonic influence. The meeting sets Miguel on a perilous path within the within the deacon cohort.

Inside a church, Padre Ricardo confronts Anghela and discovers her parents were murdered. The local bishop orders Anghela and Sister Cecilia to be housed among the secluded deacons, despite Ricardo's protests, allowing the investigation to continue. Sandoval initially resists the arrangement of housing Anghela with the deacons, warning it could disturb their training. He ultimately yields when the bishop reiterates the directive. This uneasy compromise deepens the tension between faithful caution and institutional necessity.

Anghela's powers are showcased again as she restores bread that had spoiled and turns tap water into wine. The deacons marvel at the miracles, though Miguel remains skeptical and wary of what lies behind the displays. The aura around Anghela thickens into something both wondrous and alarming.

Trainees are plagued by nightmares reflecting their sins: Marco's gluttony that contributed to his siblings' deaths, Fabián's motive for joining the priesthood as an escape from abuse, and Miguel's torment by a ghostly version of his lost love Erina. The dreams foreshadow the moral peril lurking within the deacon circle. The nightmares set a dark tone for the seven-day vulnerability period.

Anghela seeks Sandoval in the kitchen for sustenance and converses with him about his innocence. He departs the next morning, leaving the deacons in Anghela's care. The kitchen scene cements Anghela's influence over Sandoval and hints at deeper manipulations within the group.

The documents reveal Cecilia's war-time trauma and Anghela's orphaned origins, along with an alarming note where the name NgaHela appears, an anagram of Anghela said to be the Devil incarnate. The materials imply Anghela's healing powers are drawn from malevolent forces rather than divine grace. This revelation deepens Ricardo's fear of a demonic influence within the church.

When Ricardo attempts to warn the bishop, Sandoval bursts in and shoots the bishop dead, announcing Anghela's whereabouts and that she awaits Ricardo. The violent disruption confirms the crisis the church faces and marks a turning point toward open confrontation. The act signals that the threat is now imminent and personal for Ricardo.

As the deacons complete their training, Anghela persuades them to redeem their sins by indulging in their vices, often using Cecilia as a pawn in the manipulations. Marco gives in to gluttony, and the others' vices are exploited to weaken their resolve. The moral corrosion accelerates the group's vulnerability to Anghela's plan.

A Black Mass is conducted in the monastery chapel, with Miguel urging the others to distrust Anghela. A desperate chase through the woods ensues when the group seeks to escape, culminating in Miguel's unconsciousness from a fall. A flashback reveals Erina's heartbreak, linking Miguel's pain to the larger horror.

In the chapel, Anghela unveils herself as NgaHela, the demon plotting to seize control of the Catholic Church. Those she healing are now her followers, and a barricade seals the door as the confrontation peaks. Miguel wounds Anghela with a knife, and black liquid pours from her mouth as she dies, allowing him to escape.

In the aftermath, Fabián, Carlo, and Marco are ordained by a new bishop who remains unaware that their ordination is to the Devil rather than to God. The final image reveals a church corrupted from within, with the new bishop oblivious to the nefarious allegiance of the three deacons. The film closes on a chilling note of compromised faith.
