Maureen Evans and Phil Stevens, two seniors from Windsor College, attend a sneak preview of the film *Stab*. This movie is inspired by the notorious Woodsboro massacre, raising tensions among the audience.

During a brief intermission, tragedy strikes when Ghostface, the infamous masked killer, brutally murders Phil in the restroom. This unexpected act of violence sends shockwaves through the audience but goes unnoticed amid the chaos.

After Phil's murder, the masked Ghostface attacks Maureen viciously, stabbing her multiple times. In her desperate plea for help, she climbs onto the stage, but the audience mistakes her cries for part of a publicity stunt.

Local journalist Debbie Salt arrives at Windsor College to cover the horrifying events that have unfolded. Meanwhile, Sidney Prescott resumes her studies alongside her classmates, unaware of the dark events lurking ahead.

As tensions escalate, Sidney reunites with her friends and fellow Woodsboro survivors. Among them are her boyfriend Derek and Randy Meeks, who begin to piece together the implications of the recent murders.

Sidney and Hallie attend a bustling party at the Delta Lambda Zeta sorority house. Unbeknownst to them, Ghostface is making his moves nearby, leading to another horrific murder.

At a nearby Omega Beta Zeta house, Ghostface claims another victim—Cici Cooper. The partygoers, upon learning of the murder, rush to investigate, inadvertently leaving themselves vulnerable.

Amid the confusion following Cici's murder, Ghostface infiltrates the Delta Lambda Zeta house. In a terrifying encounter, he targets Sidney and injures Derek, increasing the sense of dread among the survivors.

As Sidney and her friends conduct a frantic search for clues, Ghostface begins to play mind games, leading to the brutal murder of Randy in Joel's van. The revelation that the killer may be someone close sends shockwaves through the group.

Dewey and Gale attempt to analyze footage for clues but are ambushed by Ghostface. This confrontation leaves Dewey severely injured, further complicating the struggle against the masked killer.

In a bid to protect Sidney and Hallie, police escort them to safety. However, Ghostface intercepts their vehicle, resulting in a violent encounter that leads to the shocking double murder of the officers.

Sidney discovers a staggering scene as she finds Derek tied up in a fraternity hazing gone wrong. Ghostface emerges, revealing himself as Mickey, who shoots Derek and shares his twisted motivations related to movie violence.

As the chaos escalates, Debbie Salt reveals her true identity as Nancy Loomis, the mother of Billy, the original killer. Her desire for vengeance unfolds as she aims to kill Sidney, complicating the already dangerous situation.

In a tense standoff, Cotton Weary enters the scene, gun drawn. He takes control of the situation, shooting Nancy instead, further escalating the turmoil as the characters fight for their lives.

In the climactic conclusion, Mickey confronts Sidney and Gale, only to meet his demise. Sidney ensures her survival by shooting Nancy, ending the cycle of revenge and violence once and for all.
