Scream

The film begins with Laura Crane, a film studies professor, waiting at a bar in New York City. She exchanges banter about horror movie tropes before being lured outside, where Ghostface taunts her. Ghostface then brutally stabs her, revealing himself as Jason Carvey, who kills her in a dark alley.

Jason Carvey returns to his dorm after Laura's murder and receives a call from 'Greg' with the voice of Ghostface. They share a shrine to Ghostface and the 'Stab' movies, highlighting their obsession and connection to the horror franchise's mythology.

Jason gets attacked by the real Ghostface after finding Greg’s severed remains in the fridge. Jason complains about finishing Richie’s movie, but Ghostface dismisses film interests, emphasizing the chaos he's causing.

Sam attends a therapy session to cope with her trauma, while Tara plans to attend a frat party after Quinn and others express concern. The girls are navigating fears from past killings and their new college environment.

At the party, Tara gets drunk and attempts to hook up with Frankie. When others intervene, Tara is upset, feeling embarrassed and scared, especially after being harassed and called a murderer by other partygoers.

Sam secretly patches up her relationship with Danny while hiding their connection from Tara. The media reports on Jason's murder and Laura's death, fueling suspicion around Ghostface and raising tensions among the group.

Ghostface attacks Tara and Sam in a bodega, killing multiple customers and damaging the store. The sisters fight to escape as Ghostface kills more innocent bystanders before fleeing, leaving his mask behind.

The police and survivors investigate the murders, discovering that Bailey's mask belonged to Roman Bridger. Kirby Reed, a Ghostface survivor, joins the case, linking past killers and suspects to the current murders.

The group visits a museum with masks of previous Ghostface killers, revealing that multiple killers are involved. Bailey, Quinn, Ethan, and others are unveiled as part of a family seeking revenge linked to Richie’s death.

As Ghostface attacks again, the survivors fight back. Quentin, Ethan, and Bailey are unmasked as killers, with Quinn orchestrating much of the revenge. The survivors attempt to trap Ghostface at the museum to end the spree.

Tara is pushed over the balcony and injured, while Quinn is killed. Sam faces off against the surviving killers, with Tara encouraging her to continue. Chaos ensues as the family’s revenge plot unravels amid injuries and revelations.

Sam traps Bailey and brutally kills him, revealing her strength and resolve to end the revenge cycle. She taunts him about her own heritage and deals the final blow by stabbing him in the eye, sealing her independence from her father's legacy.

The survivors receive medical care, and Tara mourns Chad’s apparent death. Tara and Chad share a tender moment, reaffirming their bond as the 'core four.' Sam reflects on her journey, dropping her father’s Ghostface mask in the street as a symbol of breaking free.

Though the immediate threat seems over, the appearance of a surviving Ethan suggests the horror may not be entirely finished. The film concludes with the survivors walking into the city, hinting at the enduring legacy and cycle of violence.
