Scooby-Doo! and the Curse of the 13th Ghost

In a Himalayan chamber, Van Ghoul and his partner Mortifer Quinch seal the 13th Ghost inside the Chest of Demons. Mortifer is attacked and seemingly killed by minion ghosts, leaving Van Ghoul sobbing as he escapes. The event curses Van Ghoul with guilt and marks his path forward.

During the opening, Van Ghoul recounts that Scooby-Doo set the 13 Ghosts free again by accident, with help from Shaggy, Daphne, and young Flim-Flam. He notes that all but one were captured, tying the past to the present. This recap frames the ongoing mystery the gang faces.

Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne, Fred, and Velma chase Farmer Morgan through the mall and capture him at Old Timey Toys. The sheriff reveals the real culprit is Mrs. Malveaux and scolds the gang for their interference. He warns them to stop solving mysteries and to keep the Mystery Machine off the streets, threatening jail if he sees them again.

The next day, the gang holds a garage sale, selling monster costumes and the Mystery Machine. Bernie Alan buys something and discovers the crystal ball, which triggers Shaggy and Scooby to recall their 13 Ghosts adventures. Van Ghoul messages Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby about the 13th Ghost.

Daphne dons her old 13 Ghosts outfit and unveils the Miss-tery Machine to Fred and Velma. The gang agrees to meet Van Ghoul at his castle to confront the 13th Ghost. Fred starts to doubt his leadership as Daphne takes charge.

A phantom car pursues the gang on the road, and Daphne deftly outmaneuvers it, proving she can handle the driving. Fred experiences an existential crisis about his role as leader. The chase ends with the gang continuing toward Van Ghoul's castle.

They meet Van Ghoul and are attacked by Asmodeus, the winged demon ghost. Shaggy confesses he sent the chest to the Himalayas, prompting them to travel by flying boat toward the temple. The encounter foreshadows a deeper mystery about responsibilities and power.

As the phantom car triggers an avalanche, the group searches a seemingly abandoned post office in a nearby village. There, adult Flim-Flam tries to hawk Chest of Demons merchandise. Fred and Velma are suddenly snatched by an unseen force.

Inside the temple, Asmodeus waits while the gang is separated. Van Ghoul is defeated and reveals more about the Chest. Fred reveals he attended a cheerleading school during his time away, lifting the team's spirits. Daphne devises a plan to turn the tide.

Velma visits Flim-Flam's store and takes everything, triggering a chase as the phantom car pursues Fred, Velma, and Flim-Flam. The Miss-tery Machine's upgrades help them evade. Meanwhile Shaggy, Scooby, and Daphne infiltrate the castle to rescue Van Ghoul.

The gang reunites in the castle as they find Van Ghoul defeated. Van Ghoul explains Asmodeus is the demon form of his ancestor Asamad Van Ghoul and that the doom was his fault. Bernie Alan arrives, revealing himself as Interpol agent Vance Linklater and arresting Mortifer. Mortifer escapes briefly in the phantom car but is recaptured.

Velma deduces that the real Asmodeus watched over Van Ghoul and has achieved redemption in the story's end. She fabricates a tale to give Van Ghoul closure and teases opening the Chest, but ultimately decides against it. The others reflect on the lessons learned and the path forward.

Daphne kisses Flim Flam as a thank-you for his help, and Van Ghoul warns him to stay out of trouble. The gang prepares to depart for home, and Daphne reaffirms that mysteries will continue, restoring leadership to Fred. Everyone agrees to keep solving mysteries together.

As the Mystery Machine flies back home, the gang hints at future adventures with renewed team dynamics and a vigilant stance toward the Chest of Demons. Daphne's decision to keep solving mysteries marks a new era for the Scooby gang. The team looks forward to continuing their adventures together.
