Genaro Fausto Mata is a peculiar hotel employee who also works for Massimo Borghetti in the role of Giuseppe. In his spare time, he pursues the title of Sanky Panky as a way to charm foreign visitors. His girlfriend, the Morena, yearns to formalize their relationship and pull him out of that world. The balance of his life tilts when a strange and powerful Italian family arrives at the hotel, shuffling loyalties and raising the stakes for everyone involved. The tangled web deepens with the return of Martha Zdenka Kalina, the American woman who loves Genaro and comes back to the Dominican Republic with a surprising twist. The film also features a cameo by Max Borghetti as Giuseppe’s Son, hinting at how family ties complicate the already chaotic dynamics around the hotel.

Genaro remains deeply involved in Sanky Panky, much to his girlfriend’s dismay, as the arrival of the Italian clan pulls him into new complications and demands that he take charge of the Mamma, the matriarch who arrives with the visitors. Sanky Panky 2 kicked off with record-breaking attendance, drawing more than 19,000 people on opening day and surpassing the first film’s debut, even without promotions like 2x1 offers. The momentum continued at Caribbean Cinemas de Colinas Mall, where seven of the eight available screens were in operation and attendance exceeded 2,500, making it the day’s top-performing cinema. Other chains—Megaplex, Cinemacentro Cibao, Cinemacentro Malecón, Colinas, Bávaro, and Hollywood Plaza in La Romana—opened additional rooms to meet overwhelming demand. The film achieved a new milestone by opening simultaneously in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, competing alongside US releases Ender’s Game, Free Birds, and Last Vegas. Over the opening weekend (including the public holiday the following Monday), Sanky Panky 2 attracted just over 93,000 attendees, with daily records set in Bávaro at San Juan Shopping Center (1,385 people) and in Colinas Mall, Santiago (3,243 people), both benefiting from fully booked showings. The island-wide response mirrored the movie’s momentum, signaling a strong start for this sequel as it topped the box office in multiple theatres. However, there was also notable commentary about Fausto Mata’s performance, which some attributed to a lack of rehearsal and preparation; the production ultimately had to take steps to ensure contractual commitments were fulfilled.
