Raja grows up in poverty with his childhood friend Dattu and Dattu's sister Radha, who loves him. His father Suraj was killed during his childhood and his mother Malti was imprisoned for the murder, both of whom were renowned artists. These early losses shape Raja's drive to master dance and song and rise above their circumstances.

Raja sees an advertisement to perform at a famous auditorium. He faces initial rejection but participates with desperation and wins the first prize. This victory earns him attention while inflaming his rival Manish, the former top prize winner who becomes his enemy.

Manish, the former top prize winner, becomes Raja's fiercest foe. Priya, who is connected to Manish through dance, falls in love with Raja, intensifying the rivalry. Manish escalates his plot to harm Raja and is arrested.

Priya becomes Raja's dance partner, and together they rise to fame across India with the help of Priya's father, Rai Bahadur Brij Bhushan Sharma. Their performances win large audiences and create a national buzz.

Malti is released from jail after serving her sentence. Raja confesses his love to Priya, and the couple plans to meet Priya's father on Priya's birthday to seek his blessing.

At Priya's birthday party, Malti meets Brij Bhushan, the man who attacked her years ago and who killed Suraj. Brij Bhushan offers a blank cheque to bury the past, but Malti rejects it and declares that money cannot erase sorrow. The audience denounces Brij Bhushan and Raja leaves with his mother.

The day after, Priya explains the need to meet near a temple. A Brij Bhushan ally overhears the plan and, at the temple, Raja is knocked unconscious as Brij Bhushan pressures Priya to marry Manish.

Raja escapes from the room and returns to the dance program, while Radha and Priya escape Brij Bhushan's custody.

During the final performance, Brij Bhushan and his rowdies disrupt the show and shoot Malti. Raja is knocked down as Malti reveals that Brij Bhushan killed Suraj. Fueled by the revelation, Raja fights through the chaos and defeats Brij Bhushan by sending him into an electrified wire.

Radha is shot by Brij Bhushan while trying to shield Raja, a sacrifice that underscores the cost of the battle. In the end, Raja and Priya marry, fulfilling Radha's wish and honoring her sacrifice.

With Brij Bhushan defeated and the family story resolved, Raja and Priya continue their rise as a legendary dance couple. Malti finds some peace after the upheavals, while Radha's sacrifice remains a poignant memory for them all.
