Rudo y Cursi

Two brothers, Tato and Beto, play in a local football match in their rural Mexican village. Tato shines as the star striker while Beto, the eccentric goalkeeper, supports him from the net.

During one of their matches, a talent scout spots the brothers and offers them a chance to play in the Capital. He informs them that due to a full roster, only one brother can join him, leading them to a tense decision.

To determine who will go to the Capital, Tato and Beto agree to a penalty shootout. Tato successfully scores against his brother, earning the opportunity to pursue his football dreams in the City.

After initially struggling, Tato earns fame in the Capital and adopts the nickname 'Cursi'. His rising stardom garners him a relationship with a famous model, bringing him both joy and challenges.

Beto, now known as 'Rudo', joins a rival team but faces difficulties adapting to life away from home. He grapples with missing his family and the pressures of city life, leading to feelings of isolation.

As time passes, Tato begins to lose his goal-scoring touch and his relationship with the model falls apart. These setbacks lead to mounting pressure and stress, challenging his identity as a footballer.

Beto falls into a world of gambling and cocaine use, moving further away from his family values. His reckless lifestyle leads him to accumulate massive debts, putting his life in danger.

The brothers' paths converge in a crucial match where Cursi must score to avoid demotion to the Second Division. Simultaneously, Rudo faces pressure to throw the game to pay off his debts and protect his life.

In a heart-stopping moment, Rudo saves a penalty shot from Tato in the final minutes of the match. The game ends goalless, marking a tragic culmination of their rivalry and personal struggles.

After the match, overwhelmed by his failures and the emotional toll it has taken, Tato decides to quit football. He chooses to return to his rural village, seeking solace and a simpler life.

In the aftermath of the match, Beto faces repercussions for his gambling lifestyle. He is shot in a violent confrontation, resulting in the loss of a leg and the end of his football career.
