Plot Summary
Adelaide and Jonathan, newlyweds, set out from New York in 1907 to row a boat across the Atlantic to Europe, unaware of the world events unfolding around them. As decades pass, their love erodes into hatred and then indifference. In old age, they share a final swim and embrace, drifting alone. Their vessel washes ashore in Europe in 1957.
