Road Train

A road-train surges up behind the SUV and pushes it off the road, breaking Craig’s arm. The truck ahead stops and distant gunshots and a crazed figure in the bush are heard. With the driver nowhere to be found, the group decides to hijack the truck and drive away, even as the truck’s radio crackles to life on its own.

The four fall asleep in the truck and awaken to the vehicle having driven off the road and up a hill. Nina tends to Craig while Liz goes off to search for a shack she’s seen. Marcus accompanies Liz as they separate from the others to scout ahead.

Nina discovers the truck’s fuel tanks are empty and finds a large pipe beneath the trailer filled with a mysterious red fluid. Craig, tormented by visions of Cerberus, finds a key to the trailers and opens the rearmost trailer, only for the door to slam shut behind him.

Marcus remains with Liz, but the two quarrel over Liz’s relationship with Craig, sparking an argument that ends with Liz storming off. The tension rises as the group splits to search for shelter and make sense of the strange situation.

Liz locates a rundown shack and finds unlabeled cans containing the red fluid. Thirsty, she drinks some but quickly discovers the ominous contents and bloody remains nearby, which gnaw at her sanity. She rushes back to the truck to warn the others.

Liz and Nina try to start the truck while Marcus, wearing the driver’s clothes, attempts to destroy it. The women overpower him and tie him up, regaining control of the vehicle as tensions simmer and the situation grows more dangerous.

Craig emerges from the rear trailer and murders Marcus, throwing the group into chaos. The truck somehow starts again, and Nina tries to back it up while Liz signals from the rear, though Liz soon leaves to drink more of the red fluid.

Hearing Liz cry for help from inside the truck, Nina pushes Craig into the rear trailer and locks the door, preventing him from luring her into the trailer himself. The cab fights erupt as Liz’s voice echoes from within the truck.

Nina turns the truck around and stops to inspect the front trailer. She discovers a gruesome abattoir where human bodies, including Marcus’s, are ground into the red fluid that fuels the truck. The shock propels her back into the cab, determined to keep driving.

Nina spots a car nearby and signals for help, but the truck radio squeals to life again and Craig and Liz corner her in a struggle. Craig is rammed into the car, Liz is thrown from the cab by Nina, and Nina is knocked out during the chaos.

Nina wakes to find Craig dragging Liz’s body toward the trailer and trying to persuade her to join his ‘magnificent opportunity.’ She fights back, flees into the bush, and narrowly escapes his pursuit as he gives chase.

Craig closes in on Nina, but she fights back and kills him with the truck driver’s gun. She staggers free and escapes into the night, but the sight of the couple from the wrecked car hints at a never-ending cycle of horror.

Emerging from the bush, Nina sees the couple from the wrecked car drive away as she shouts warnings. The camera lingers on her horrified face, suggesting the bloody cycle will repeat itself on this desert road.
