Yuka Hidaka, Airi Suzuki, attends school with Hinako Kurohane, Miyabi Natsuyaki, a brilliant student who is nonetheless treated as a social outcast. Hinako’s quiet world is marked by a troubling family dynamic: her parents neglect her in favor of her younger sister Kana, even as Hinako’s grades remain the envy of her peers. The story follows a stark contrast between the surface of academic success and the darker currents running beneath, as Hinako discovers she has cancer and faces a cold response from the people closest to her. Hinako’s sense of grievance grows as she confronts both her illness and the way she’s perceived by others. She begins to curse her classmates one by one as part of her increasingly dangerous experiments with power. Time passes, and Yuka finds herself recounting the legend of Hinako to a new group of classmates. The tale becomes a communal story, but the spread of the curse accelerates as the group steals Yuka’s phone and discovers the actual textual warnings that Hinako sent, including one directed at Yuka herself. One by one, Yuka’s new classmates die, leaving her isolated and increasingly desperate. The realization hits hard: the only way to survive might be to widen the circle of readers who encounter Hinako’s words, spreading the curse further rather than containing it.

Desperation drives Yuka to take drastic action. She begins to kill people randomly and, in a bid for control, crafts a short story woven with Hinako’s lines and posts it online. By publishing the story, she extends her own time to live, hoping that more readers will inherit Hinako’s burden and, in a perverse way, keep her alive longer. The narrative becomes a perilous chain: the more lives she touches, the longer she survives, yet the danger deepens for everyone who encounters Hinako’s curse through the messages, the stories, and the words that won’t stay silent.

In this somber, slow-burning thriller, the line between power and peril blurs as a girl’s desperate longing for belonging spirals into a deadly web that drags in friends, strangers, and the very idea of connection itself. The story asks how far one might go to be seen, and at what cost that visibility comes, leaving readers with a haunting question about the reach of words and the consequences they carry.
