In 1990, Charles and Veronica are forced to leave their eldest son Francis behind as they move to Greece seeking a better life. Lacking visas and identification, the family must hide while their uncertain future in a new country unfolds.

The Antetokounmpos endure immigration processing after escaping refugee round-ups in Turkey. During this period their Yoruba surname is hellenized to Antetokounmpo, helping them blend into the Greek system.

By 2004, the family has settled in Greece but remains without legal citizenship due to jus sanguinis. The uncertain status keeps the threat of deportation and separation looming, even as Charles fights to secure documentation.

Thanasis and Giannis begin playing basketball in the park, showing early signs of talent. They are invited to Filathlitikos to use the gym for free, where coach Takis Zivas recognizes their potential.

By 2007, Thanasis has become a star player and Giannis has improved greatly through training and competition. The brothers' progress offers a glimmer of a professional future despite ongoing legal and financial obstacles.
