Frank Moses, a retired black-ops CIA agent, lives a tranquil life in Parma Heights, Ohio. Despite his peaceful daily routine, he battles loneliness and frequently calls Sarah, a representative from his pension office, to bridge the gap of solitude.

One night, Frank's quiet existence is shattered by an invasion from a skilled hit squad. In an intense skirmish, he fights for survival, successfully eliminating the intruders but soon realizes his phone is being monitored.

Realizing the threat to Sarah, Frank quickly makes his way to Kansas City to protect her. Initially hesitant, Sarah recognizes the seriousness of the situation and becomes an unforeseen ally in Frank's quest for answers.

Frank travels to New Orleans to visit his ailing mentor, Joe Matheson, who resides in a retirement community. Joe reveals that a hit squad, similar to the one that attacked Frank, assassinated a journalist and ties Frank to a larger conspiracy.

During their investigation, Frank and Sarah sift through clues left by the murdered journalist. This investigation leads them to a dangerous hit list that connects back to covert operations from their past.

The duo seeks assistance from Marvin Boggs, a paranoid former black ops member. Marvin connects the dots, revealing that the names on the hit list are linked to a covert operation in Guatemala from 1981, further implicating Frank.

The trio tracks down Gabriel Singer, the last living connection to their operation. Unfortunately, their conversation is cut short as a helicopter gunner kills Singer before he can reveal more, highlighting the lethal reach of their pursuers.

With the help of Ivan Simanov, a former Russian secret agent, Frank gains intel to infiltrate CIA headquarters. Chaos erupts during their mission, resulting in Frank getting wounded amid a fierce confrontation with agent Cooper.

After narrowly escaping an assassination attempt, Joe returns to help Frank and Sarah. In a twist, he sacrifices himself to allow the others to escape during a tense standoff with their enemies.

Amid reviewing the files they obtained from the CIA, the team struggles to identify Alexander Dunning, who is pivotal to the conspiracy. Their investigation unveils a significant cover-up involving Vice-President Robert Stanton.

As tensions rise, Frank must negotiate with Cooper, amidst a standoff involving Dunning's estate. This leads to a chaotic sequence of events, culminating in Joe's untimely death at the hands of an unseen sniper.

Frank's team devises a plan to infiltrate a gala in Chicago where Stanton is present, aiming to exchange him for Sarah. The execution of this plan heightens the stakes as their enemies close in.

During the confrontation at the gala, Dunning's true manipulative nature is revealed, resulting in a violent clash. Cooper turns against Dunning's associates, reshaping the dynamics of their dangerous alliance.

In the aftermath of the chaos, Frank and his team manage to escape thanks to Cooper's critical choice. As they regroup, Frank and Sarah find hope for a new beginning together after surviving their harrowing ordeal.

The movie concludes with an unexpected comedic twist as Frank and Marvin find themselves on the run in Moldova. Their adventure ends on a light-hearted note involving a stolen nuclear device transported in an unconventional manner.
