Four friends graduate from college and start a new chapter in Houston, Texas. They decide to share a home together, bringing their unique dreams and aspirations into this shared space.

Troy Dyer, a coffeehouse guitarist, finds himself struggling to find steady work. After losing several minimum-wage jobs, his impulsive decision to steal a candy bar results in him being let go from his last position.

Lelaina Pierce, the valedictorian of her class, dreams of becoming a filmmaker. However, she takes a job as a production assistant under a demanding television host, which tests her patience and passion for filmmaking.

One day, Lelaina accidentally ignites a chain of events when her lit cigarette causes Michael Grates to crash into her car. This unexpected encounter leads to a budding romance between them, as Michael is intrigued by Lelaina's documentary potential.
