Venugopal, Cheran is an entrepreneur and an aging bachelor who tirelessly pursues arranged marriage matches. A kindhearted man at heart, he battles mental health challenges that trigger a stammer under stress. In his search for a partner, Venu insists on complete transparency about his condition, a honesty that leads to one rejected prospect, Ranjitha, who respects his candor but nevertheless finds his situation unsettling.

Venu’s mother then arranges a meeting with Vidhya, and she, Remya Nambeesan, agrees to marry him. The couple moves toward a wedding, yet a thundercloud appears at the last moment: Vidhya’s father, Manikkavel, reveals that she had eloped. To shield the family from humiliation, Venu takes the blame, calling off the wedding himself and stepping into the role of the scapegoat.

The fallout plunges Venu into a deep depression, nearly driving him into a dangerous road accident. He is saved by Nedumaran, a cheerful, blind radio jockey, and soon begins to learn about Nedumaran’s life through his wife, Thamizhisai, Gajala. Thamizhisai had been drawn to Nedumaran’s optimistic spirit despite his blindness, and their story of resilience inspires Venu to see that happiness can be found beyond conventional timings. Nedumaran’s family becomes a touchstone for Venu as he starts to heal, and his courage begins to rekindle hope in him.

Gratitude helps open doors, and Manikkavel, impressed by Venu’s goodness, offers to help find him a suitable match. He introduces Venu to Gayathri, Karthika Adaikalam in Nagercoil, who reassures him about his health and soon they begin to court. At the same time, Venu encounters Gunasekhar, nicknamed Guna, a former thief turned rickshaw driver. Guna explains his own love story with Gayathri: he met her during a home break-in, fell for her, and despite reform attempts and even a local race win, she remains hesitant to commit, fearing how her family will react. Venu is moved by Guna’s honesty and vows to support Gayathri in choosing a path that truly makes her happy, stepping back from the arranged match.

In a twist of fate, Venu runs into Vidhya again in Nagercoil, discovering she is in distress and living in poverty. She reveals that she eloped with her former partner, Ramesh, who later blinded a neighbor during an act of voyeurism and ended up in jail, leaving Vidhya pregnant and struggling. Venu’s compassion drives him to help her, and in the hospital he encounters Ranjitha, who works as a cashier there. When Vidhya goes into labor, Venu pleads with Manikkavel to help—but he lashes out, refusing aid. Venu’s steadfast warmth pushes him to defend his friend and his partner in need, and Manikkavel softens, eventually bringing Vidhya and her child home to safety.

Ranjitha, who has watched Venu from afar, begins to harbor her own feelings for him. Yet when Venu returns to discuss a hopeful proposal for Ranjitha, she is left hopeful and then heartbroken by the possibility that she might come second to someone else. Ranjitha tends to Venu’s injuries after a mishap and finally opens up about her feelings. In a defining moment, Venu calls his mother and shares his decision to pursue a life with Ranjitha, a choice that meets the approval and joy of their families.

In the end, the film centers on a path of forgiveness, understanding, and chosen love. Venu’s steadfast empathy, the support of those around him, and the quiet courage to put another’s happiness before his own culminate in a hopeful, unconventional union with Ranjitha, symbolizing a new chapter built on mutual respect, resilience, and the belief that true connection can arise from compassion and patience.
