Racing Stripes

A fierce thunderstorm disrupts the traveling circus Carnival Sarano, leading to chaos. In the midst of the frantic tire change, a tiny plains zebra foal is inadvertently left behind.

Nolan Walsh, a widowed former racehorse trainer, discovers the abandoned zebra foal after the storm. He decides to take the little zebra, whom his daughter Channing names Stripes, back to their farm.

At Nolan's farm, Stripes starts to bond with the quirky animal inhabitants. He quickly becomes friends with Tucker the Shetland pony, Franny the goat, and Reggie the proud rooster.

Feeling a sense of purpose, Stripes becomes determined to race at Turfway Park. However, he is unaware that his zebra stripes disqualify him from competing against thoroughbreds.

Two foals, Trenton's Pride and Ruffshodd, encourage Stripes to pursue racing, teasing him along the way. Their antics, however, attract the attention of Sir Trenton, a seasoned race champion.

Three years later, Stripes has settled into his life, becoming a local celebrity. He meets Sandy, an Arabian filly, and is smitten with her while still struggling with his racing aspirations.

After losing again at the Blue Moon Races, Tucker suggests that Stripes needs proper training before entering more races. This leads to Stripes persuading Channing to ride him to Turfway Park.

At Turfway Park, Channing reminisces about happy moments with her late mother, Carolyn. This emotional recollection underlines the bond between Channing and Stripes as they prepare for the future.

During the tryout race at Turfway Park, Stripes initially struggles. A careless kick from another horse causes a fall, leaving both Channing and Nolan on edge about his racing capabilities.

Sir Trenton reveals to Stripes that he is not just any horse, but a zebra. This shocking news sends Stripes into a spiral of self-doubt, further complicating his racing dreams.

In a bid to help Nolan remember his glory days, the barn animals present him with mementos from his past. This heartwarming moment brings back fond memories, renewing his passion for racing.

As tensions rise, the horse-fly siblings Buzz and Scuzz support the animals in a daring rescue mission when Sandy is kidnapped by Sir Trenton's team. They aim to save her just before the Kentucky Open.

On race day, Nolan makes a risky bet: if Stripes wins, he gets to keep Sandy; if not, he will give up his racing aspirations. This captures the urgency surrounding the race and stakes involved.

As the race commences, Ruffshodd plots to obstruct Stripes with the help of his jockey. However, Scuzz steps in with clever antics to ensure Stripes' chance of victory isn't sabotaged.

Stripes perseveres through fatigue and doubts, recalling Tucker's inspiring words. Ultimately, he crosses the finish line, earning respect from the racing community, solidifying his journey and determination.
