Ludo Decker is a Berlin-based yellow press reporter who, with photographer Moritz, spends his days spying on celebrities for the tabloid Das Blatt. He also uses his work to pursue frequent casual sexual encounters. The duo feeds a sensational news cycle by chasing scandal around famous figures.

Ludo and Moritz are on scene at the engagement party of heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko and Yvonne Catterfeld. As Klitschko toasts, Ludo's reckless antics shatter the glass dome and he tumbles into the cake, causing uproar among the guests. His stunt triggers the scandal that follows him.

For the incident, Ludo is sentenced to three hundred hours of community service at a local Kindergarten. He resents the assignment and bristles at the strict rules and surveillance. The kindergarten becomes both a prison and a stage for his transformation.
