Ludo Decker Til Schweiger is a Berlin-based yellow-press reporter who spends his days shadowing celebrities for the tabloid Das Blatt, and, off the clock, exploiting his access for casual sexual encounters. He shares this lifestyle with his partner in crime, photographer Moritz Matthias Schweighöfer, a man who fuels their daily routine with sharp wit and a taste for the sensational.

The pair crash a high-profile moment at the engagement party of heavyweight boxer and celebrity Wladimir Klitschko, along with his fiancée Yvonne Catterfeld Yvonne Catterfeld. When Klitschko raises his glass to toast, Ludo erupts through the glass dome of the venue and tumbles into the wedding cake, causing a spectacle that shatters the celebration and triggers a swift, painful consequence: a sentence of three hundred hours of community service at a local kindergarten.

At the kindergarten, Ludo meets Anna Gotzlowski Nora Tschirner, the sharp-eyed director who grew up in the same neighborhood and remembers his childhood pranks and mockery. She uses this history to exact revenge by assigning him humiliating tasks, forcing him to confront his past misbehavior while his parole hangs in the balance. Caught between his old lifestyle and the possibility of a different path, Ludo begins to navigate the delicate balance of compliance and lingering self-interest. His quest for casual encounters doesn’t end quietly; he continues to pursue one-night stands, including a brief affair with Nina, the mother of Cheyenne Blue Emma Schweiger, a child under his watch who becomes an unwitting mirror to his transformation.

As days pass, the friction between Ludo and Anna gradually softens, and a genuine friendship starts to take root. When Anna’s date with a man falls apart, she crosses paths with actor Jürgen Vogel Jürgen Vogel in a park and begins dating him, a development that adds complexity to Ludo’s evolving feelings. Anna accompanies Vogel to the German Film Awards ceremony, where Ludo’s offbeat instincts surface in a moment of misdirected admiration—he drolly proclaims that Anna is the most beautiful woman in attendance, a moment that his editor-in-chief deems far less newsworthy than the celebrity glitz surrounding other attendees. This turning point forces Ludo to confront the truth he’s been avoiding: his feelings for Anna run deeper than he realized. At a lively children’s festival held at a local theatre, he bravely crashes the ongoing performance to declare his love for her, all while she sits in the audience surrounded by the kids.
